The short version

Life @ Uni is designed so that your real identity is never exposed by the product. You sign up with an email and we assign you an anonymous handle. We do not connect that handle to your real name, roll number, or any directory entry.

What we store

  • Your email, to verify ownership and send security emails.
  • A scrypt-hashed password (we never see your password in plain text).
  • An auto-generated username and primary campus.
  • Messages, posts, comments, and reactions that you submit.
  • Reports you file and moderation actions taken in response.
  • Hashed IP addresses and rate-limit counters so we can prevent abuse. We do not log raw IPs.

Student directory

The student directory contains records imported from campus data. These records are not user accounts and are not linked to any sign-in. They cannot be claimed or messaged. Campus admins can hide or archive entries on request.

Your rights

Delete your account at any time from settings. We remove your handle, messages, reactions, and personal data. Public content you created may remain in anonymised form if it was relied upon in ongoing discussions, but it will no longer be linked to your identity.
